MIDDLE SCHOOL MINISTRY AND CONFIRMATION OVERVIEW
Middle School Hours
North, South & West Campus
Wednesday 7:15pm

MSM Vision

Middle School Ministry at Hope Lutheran exists to encourage all students to know the love of Christ. MSM consists of the programming we make available to our 6-8th grade students throughout the year. This includes youth programming on Wednesday evenings, our Believe Retreat in the fall, Summer Bonfires, as well as any other special events. Every middle school student is welcome to be a part of MSM at Hope.

Hope Youth exists for youth to be loved (Hopetots), belong (Hopekids), believe (Middle School Ministry) and be light (High School Ministry). That’s the next part of the Great Commission: “baptizing them… and teaching them.” Students who choose to complete ABCs may attend the one-time event of Confirmation, which confers full adult membership in the Church.

Confirmation Attendance Make-up

Youth Worship Rehearsals
Sundays | 1:00pm | South Campus
Join us for a weekly youth worship jam-session! This is a combined rehearsal at our South Campus for all middle and high school students. All musical abilities welcome; bring your instruments if you have one or let us know what you’d like to learn!

Save the Date: The Fire
June 17 – September 2 | 7:00-9:00pm | South Campus Firepit | Incoming 6–12 Graders
The Fire is our weekly summer youth gathering. The easiest months to disengage our faith are in the summer. This is why engaging our youth in their faith during the summer months is absolutely critical. Come play games, eat pizza, hear someone share their faith story, and spend time around the fire! Rain or shine – Come hungry and invite a friend!

The vision for Middle School Ministry at Hope Lutheran is for our students to ‘BELIEVE’ (Romans 10:9). There is nothing more crucial in this life than for our students to know Jesus and have a growing relationship with Him. During Youth Programming at Hope, we journey through the story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation so they get to know God’s character more deeply. The purpose of the Believe Retreat is to dive deeper into the three core focus’s of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism: 1.) The Apostle’s Creed, 2.) The Lord’s Prayer, 3.) The Ten Commandments. Each of these three areas are instrumental in our faith formation and were promised by parents, sponsors, and the church at your baptism.

Testimonies from Believe Retreat Small Group Guides
“I had a student who did not know anything about the Ten Commandments and now wants to know everything about them. In the middle of the Saturday evening session, he could not take his eyes off of the cross as the wheels were turning for him.”
“Kids opened up on what was important to them and had widened eyes with tears by the end as they considered them in light of their relationship with Jesus.”
“My kids keep saying, ‘I can’t believe it has been this much fun!'”

Connect

Parenting can be a challenge, especially when it comes to helping your child build a solid faith foundation. That said… we are here to help! Each month, check out a new resource for parents diving into a topic that will help you connect with your middle schooler on a deeper level. These resources are from an organization called Axis that specializes in helping equip parents to walk alongside of their youth in navigating their faith journey.

If you would like further resources or to connect on how we can further support you in these areas, please email Pastor Ben at bsullivan@fargohope.org.
