Hope Brown Johnson
Teaches: Piano, Guitar, Ukulele & Voice

My name is Hope Brown Johnson, and I am a pianist and worship leader who loves to teach people about music!

I have a degree in Music from Concordia College in Moorhead, and have worked as a Music Director, musician, composer, arranger, and piano teacher for the last 10+ years. Whether teaching a lesson, leading a class, or jamming out at camp, my hope is students learn not only to love music but learn valuable life skills such as self-confidence, growth-mindset, discipline, and teamwork. It is an honor to teach music and watch every student grow!

I live in Moorhead with my husband, Dylan, and stepdaughter, Ingrid. When I am not teaching or worship leading, you will find me homeschooling, cooking, reading, gardening, traveling, and soaking up sweet time with my family.

Teaches: Piano, Voice, Guitar, Ukulele, Adaptive Music, Sensory Sensitive Music, Intro to Music Theory, & Ear Training
With over 30 years of experience as a pianist and a deep passion for music education, I am excited to share my love for music with students of all ages and abilities. I specialize in teaching piano ages 3-17, as well as adults looking to begin or continue their musical studies. My offerings also include guitar, ukulele, and voice lessons ages 8-18. Repertoire would range from worship music to classical literature as well as Musical Theatre with an emphasis on audition preparation. Having earned a Bachelor’s in Vocal Music Education from Concordia College and a Master’s in Special Education from the University of North Dakota, I have over 12 years of experience teaching music in K-12 public schools. I am particularly passionate about making music accessible to all students. I’ve had the privilege of learning from top professionals in the field, including guitar from the authors of the Hal Leonard Method series, and attending numerous workshops and national conferences focused on music therapy, music for all abilities, and adaptive music lessons. This knowledge allows me to offer Adaptive Music Lessons and Sensory Sensitivity Lessons designed to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, ensuring that music can be enjoyed by everyone. I believe that music should be a joyful and inclusive experience, and I am committed to helping each student develop a strong musical foundation, while making each lesson engaging and fun!

Katie Van Dame
Teaches: Piano, Guitar
I currently serve as the Youth Director at Hope, overseeing both High School Ministry and Youth Worship. While I hold a master’s degree in education, I stepped away from classroom teaching when I felt God calling me into ministry at the church I grew up in. Over the past decade, I’ve served in various youth ministry roles, while worship in some capacity, has been a steady thread through it all. Today, leading Youth Worship is one of the greatest highlights of my week. I have the privilege of walking alongside middle and high school students as they grow in their faith, develop their musical gifts, and gain the confidence to lead their peers in worship. Now, through the academy, I’m eager to help students discover the joy of music and grow in their gifts through piano and guitar.

Abby & Levi Rickert
Teaches: Little Notes Music
We are Abby and Levi Rickert! Together we run Little Notes Music where we provide group music classes for infants and toddlers. Little Notes Music began with our son, Jeff. Watching Jeff blossom with the magic of music in just the first year of his life has been our ultimate inspiration to kickstart this musical adventure. We wanted to create a space where kids and families could find their love for music and create a bonding experience. We both have music education degrees and experience in the classroom. We both have a love and passion for music and want to share that joy with your family!

Joe Roehl
Teaches: Bass, Piano, Drums, Guitar
I’m a Music student at NDSU in my third year of the Instrumental Music Education program, working towards being a band teacher. I’ve had experience playing each of my respective instruments for as long as I’ve been musical, and enjoy teaching as a way to share my passion for music with someone else. For the past two years I’ve been teaching private lessons with great success, and I cannot wait to take this opportunity to teach you how to praise God in the way that you would love to learn.
