What is a Stephen Minister?

Stephen Ministers are members of Hope who have been trained to provide person-to-person care to those going through a difficult time, including things like divorce, job loss, relocation, loss of a loved one, or chronic or terminal illness. A Stephen Minister is someone who feels a deep passion to share Christ’s love to people during a difficult time. A Stephen Minister is not a counselor or therapist, nor are they a problem-solver or a casual visitor. They are someone who will “be there” for their care receiver, meeting faithfully for about an hour each week, for as long as there is a need.

How is God Calling You? Are you feeling called to serve the hurting?

Become involved in something that fills your heart and gives you purpose!

Stephen Ministers receive training on:
  • Becoming a better listener
  • Setting boundaries with others
  • Being assertive in your communication
  • Identifying signs of depression and how to respond
  • What to say to people who are hurting
