DO YOU WANT TO DO SOMETHING EXTREME THIS SUMMER?
Joni and Friends Family Retreats are a place where families affected by disability can find hope and get a break from the challenges of everyday life. This incredible vacation takes place August 18-22 at Castaway Club on Pelican Lake.
We also need volunteers to become short term missionaries (STMs) to serve these families, lead small groups or join a work crew. Workers are needed August 17-22 Be the hands and feet of Jesus! You don't have to be a professional-just come with a willing heart.
Serve one on one with a child or adult with disabilities to support the practical needs of a family (no personal cares).
- Assist with waterfront and outdoor activities to engage all ages and abilities, including rock wall, zip line, waterskiing, tubing, boating, basketball, tennis, sandcastles on the beach...
- Be part of a team of on-site medical responders
- Share your gifts for music, prayer, recreation, teaching...

Annual Rest & Rejuv
The Inclusion Ministry Network hosts annual "Rest and Rejuv" mornings for moms of children with special needs. Mothers are treated to a coffee bar, massages, crafts, and more. For more information contact Judy Siegle, Director of Women's Ministry at Hope Lutheran Church at 235-6629.
Watch for the next Rest & Rejuv in October 2012
Wheels for the World - Dates for the next event TBD
Part of the disability ministry of Joni Eareckson Tada, WFTW collects, restores and delivers previously owned wheelchairs to people in need around the world. To date, over 950 wheelchairs have been collected. It is estimated that 18 million people worldwide are in need of a wheelchair, and for many it would cost more than a year's wage, if a wheelchair were even available. This year's kick off event will be held July 23 at the Miracle Field, 2000 40th Avenue South in Moorhead, with baseball games and a carnival.
Sibshop
Sibshop is a play and discussion group designed specifically for kids whose siblings are living with disabilities. The event lets children meet others who have similar life circumstances and encourages them to be open with their feelings.
Each session includes games, fun activities, and discussion. Supervised play with peers. Meet new friends, share joys and concerns about having a sibling with special needs. Sibshops are open to typically developing children ages 7-12 years old.
