 Minnesota Food Share

Hope Lutheran participates in the Minnesota Food Share campaign during March of each year. MFS is an interfaith collaboration, co-sponsored by Jewish and Christian congregations, which greatly increases the amount of food available for distribution to persons and families in need. Several agencies in the Fargo-Moorhead area (and the people they serve) will benefit from a generous response.

2007 March Campaign at Hope Lutheran yielded the following:
Churches United for the Homeless - 5,756 pounds of food plus $10,000!
Emergency Food Pantry - 1,558 pounds of food plus $4,140

Click on  Minnesota Food Share to learn more about this program.

Please note:
- Non-perishable food items may be brought to either campus throughout the month of March. Grocery sacks will be available as a reminder to "raid you cupboard."
- Special emphasis days will be announced in February. Special offering envelopes will be included in the worship bulletins on those days for monetary gifts. (We ask that checks be made payable to Hope Lutheran Church.) Those same days will be officially designated as Food Collection Days when everyone, including members of the Faith Steps classes, will be encouraged to bring at least one non-perishable food item to the church.

Churches United for the Homeless

Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well: keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? - James 2:15-16

If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? -1 John 3:17

Bethany Homes

201 University Drive S, Fargo, ND

Delegate: Kathy Blumeyer, Mary Ann Hansen

Bethany Homes Annual Meeting
Bethany Homes, Fargo, is sponsored by 41 area North Dakota ELCA congregations, including Hope Lutheran. Representatives from these congregations were delegates at Bethany’s Annual Meeting on April 10, 2007. Delegates elected three Trustees to Bethany’s eleven member governing board, as well as electing next year’s Nominating Committee. Reports were presented by Board Chair Paul Richard, Interim Executive Director Jan Kelly and various department directors. Bethany consists of a 192-bed nursing facility (CARES); assisted living facilities (Tower I and II) housing 149 residents; 35 independent living units at Bethany Kinder House; Bethany personal care services and Bethany’s Foundation. Bethany remains thankful for the volunteer hours provided through congregation auxiliary members and pastoral support, as well as the prayers, visits and financial support received from congregational members.

Bethany Homes Auxiliary

The Auxiliary meets the 4th Monday every other month at 1:30pm. Representatives from Hope Lutheran Circles are Leona Boldt and Verna Thompson.

HopeCare makes a difference:

“Hope Lutheran – In behalf of the Bethany Home’s Auxiliary, I would like to thank you for all of the donations for the 21st Annual Silent Auction & Food Fest. The event was a huge success and we couldn’t do it without you. The proceeds will be used to purchase equipment to enhance the quality of life for the residents at Bethany. Than you for all you do!”

Perry Center

 HopeCare makes a difference:

"Thank your for the recent gift of $62. Your gift, with the blessing of God, provides food, shelter, and godly instruction to the young women who come to the Perry Center."

YWCA Unique Boutique

This event is set up every December at the YWCA Emergency Shelter. Hundreds of brand-new items are donated from the community so that past and present YWCA clients can choose gifts for their loved ones at no charge. Along with Unique Boutique, the Client Party features treats, activities, and gifts for the clients' children. Volunteers are needed to secure donations of wrapping paper, ribbons and tape, set up the "store," pick up donated items, and staff the "store." During the Client Party, volunteers are needed to register attendees, wrap gifts, be a Santa's Helper, serve treats, and help with activities that are planned.

HopeCare makes a difference:

“Thank you to all donors and volunteers who helped make the 2006 Unique Bouitique a huge success. This year we provided over 1500 gifts that were distributed to residents and past residents of the YWCA Shelter. We couldn’t do this event without the wonderful support we receive.”

HopeCare makes a difference:

"Dear HopeCare, Thank you so much for your donation of hygiene supplies and baby blankets. The families of the YWCA appreciate your donation."

"Thank you for your generous donation of personal care items to the Myrt Armstrong Center. Your generosity made this Holiday Season brighter for the Social Club Members and helped make our nineteenth annual Holiday party a success."

"Dear HopeCare, Please thank everyone for the donations of sewing machines. We currently have 11 adults and four teenage girls in our classes at CHARISM. The machines work great and we appreciate your help so we can continue this worthwhile project."

"Dear HopeCare, Thank you so much for the journals, mixing bowls, spatulas and glasses for the Ronald McDonald House. It was like magic: We were asked what we needed and a short time later the items appeared. Thank you for your kind generosity!"

"Thank HopeCare and the church for helping me out. I am very thankful for the wheel chair, crutch and book! You are always in my prayers."
