Are you in 10-12th grade? Do you want some time to hang out with friends in an environment where you can ask questions about real life issues and how they relate to God, the Bible, and your developing faith?
Real Life meets on Wednesday evenings, 8:30-10:00pm at both campuses. It features large and small group interaction to discuss some tough topics, prayer time and some great music.
In addition to Wednesday nights, there will be guest speakers, service projects, fun events, small groups and trips throughout the year.

Back from Jamaica!
June 18-25, 2008, 48 students and adult leaders from Hope journeyed to the beautiful island of Jamaica. During this week we visited children at the Garland Hall orphanage and painted part of their building. We provided respite for the house moms at Westhaven- a place for abandoned disabled children. We painted the dormitory, put on a sports camp and visited with the boys at Copse Place of Safety, a home for troubled and abandoned boys. We painted a rail car for use as a new medical facility at Riverside Church. We painted and taught VBS at Copse Basic School- a primary school for kids in the neighborhood. We helped prepare and clean up for meals as well as doing maintenance projects around YWAM- the youth for a mission campus at which we stayed. And finally, we helped paint one house and build another at Jabode, a Habitat for Humanity-like building project site.
This experience was amazing and eye opening. The Jamaican people have an enormous passion to share the love of Christ with everyone they meet. And despite some severely impoverished living and working conditions they also treat one another as extended family; coming together as community to provide meals and build homes for one another. It makes you truly appreciate all that we have been blessed with. Not just things of “extravagance”: the lake house, nice clothes to wear for work or school, a couple of cars in the garage, money to go see a movie, etc., but the things we truly take for granted: a pair of shoes, food to eat at all three meals, a roof over our heads. These are the items that are coveted there.
It was a fulfilling and truly spirit-filled week for all of us. In addition to the mission work, we had daily worship, large group sharing time and small group time as well as some fun at a local beach.
We want to thank each and every one of you for your financial support of this trip and of the student ministry program, for your donations, for your prayers and for your words of encouragement. We would not have been able to do this without you. A banquet to thank you is scheduled for September 13th at 6:30pm at the South Campus (see more information in the Real Life section of this edition of MILK). Please come to see some of the thousands of pictures we took and listen to some amazing stories of our mission trip to Jamaica. ________

Welcome Mark!
Welcome Mark Proulx to the North Campus! Mark’s first day and “initiation” was a trip to Jamaica. Can’t beat that! He will begin work at the North Campus July 2, 2008. Take some time to stop by and get to know Mark, you will love him. He is a fantastic addition to the Student Ministry team with his upbeat personality, strong faith and awesome musical skills. Goodbye Bridgett!
We hope you enjoyed our new comprehensive Student-Parent Newsletter called "Milk" that was released in January! Everything you need for your Connect, Powerlife or Real Life student including a calendar, trip information and registration forms, event information, feature articles, games and more. This will be mailed bi-monthly to the families of CONNECT, PowerLife Confirmation and Real Life students.
Kids Need You! We Need You!
Are you a… mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, teacher, coach, carpenter, Microsoft tech guru, buffalo wild wings hostess, college student, organized, not that organized, sports fanatic, classical music aficionado, disco loving dancing machine, webmaster, mechanic or ____(fill in a description of you here)___... we need you!
There are many opportunities in the Children, Youth and Family Ministries. We are currently looking for volunteers for Faith Steps, Connect, Confirmation and Real Life beginning this fall. Our first training event will be held on September 3, 2008 at 7pm at the North Campus. Specific needs, job descriptions, forms to be completed, expectations, etc. will be posted on the Hope website in mid-August for you to peruse while you prayerfully consider becoming a part of this incredible team.
What? You don’t think you have the talent or the knowledge to volunteer in one of these ministries? You think you are too old or too young to volunteer? That is just plain nonsense. Remember, it’s about God. He can use all of us and the different gifts we are blessed with. So take a leap. Pick up the phone, get online or stop one of us in the hall. You can do it.
Below are some of the specific needs of individual ministries, but by no means is this an exhaustive list! Come talk to us…
