Backpacks for Kids
Last year, over 7,000 children in the Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo school districts qualified for and greatly relied on free or reduced lunches. The Backpack program helps meet nutritional needs of children on weekends and holidays. Hope Lutheran has adopted McKinley Elementary and we are on a mission to eradicate childhood hunger by providing a backpack of food every weekend for every child in need. Funds raised through Hope Lutheran will go to support the Great Plains Food Bank's Backpack Program. New! Click here for Summer Meals pilot project opportunity offered below.

Summer Meals Pilot Project
Looking for a fun way to spend your lunch hour this summer? The Great Plains Food Bank is gearing up to pilot a Summer Food Service Program for youth in our community and is seeking volunteers to assist in serving. Food will be available to kids every weekday from 12-12:30pm at Village West Park in Fargo (rain or shine). Meals will be provided to all children (0-18 years) without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Contact Cierra Thibert at 701-232-6219 or cthibert@lssnd.org if you would like to help.
